Kenji Hodgson ‘Mont’ Chenin Blanc - Loire Valley, France
Producer's Notes:
Born from young plants from the famous Mont terroir (Anjou noir, schists and spilites), this Chenin, vinified without additives, plays the purity card. The nose reveals ripe citrus, pear and a light schist nuance. On the palate, the substance dances between saline tension and luminous fruit, delicately caressed by controlled oak. The finish, straight and salivating, reflects the expression of the soil. A promising wine, lively and sincere, to be savoured now but ready to blossom.
What we say:
Elegant and quietly layered, ‘Mont’ leans into Chenin’s more refined side, offering lemon zest, crisp pear and green apple alongside delicate white florals and a hint of beeswax. There’s a gentle honeyed nuance beneath the surface, balanced by a clear mineral thread that gives the wine lift and definition. The palate is poised and textural, with bright acidity carrying the fruit while a subtle roundness adds depth, finishing clean, dry and lightly saline. As a fun fact, the winemakers are originally from Canada!
