Lock & Worth Sauvignon Blanc & Sémillon - Okanagan, B.C., Canada
Producer's Notes:
Light, slightly hazy lemon/hay in colour. Lemon peel, fresh clover and apple skin on the nose. Medium bodies, fresh, bright and driven. Serious yet very easy.
What We Say:
An interesting expression of the Okanagan, taking the familiar Sauvignon Blanc/Sémillon combination and giving it a distinctly cool-climate, mineral-driven British Columbia character. The Sauvignon Blanc provides much of the citrus, herbal, and green-fruited lift, while Sémillon adds a little more roundness, waxiness, and savory depth.
Lock & Worth takes a deliberately low-intervention approach. The Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon have historically been whole-cluster pressed, with some vintages using approximately one-third whole-cluster pressing. The juice is fermented and then aged in neutral French oak, rather than new oak, so the wood adds texture rather than obvious oak flavor.
Grape Varietal: 70% Sauvignon Blanc , 30% Semillon
Style: White - Dry, medium-bodied, low-intervention, unfined, and unfiltered
Alcohol: 12.9%
Drink Window: Now - 3 years
Perfect For: Grilled halibut, lemon herb sauce, asparagus, fresh greens, and roasted potatoes
A taut, mineral-driven Okanagan white that marries Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon with an ability to develop beautifully with bottle age.
