Low Life Barrel House Nocturne Merlot - Canada
What We Say:
Made mainly from Merlot, with Petit Pearl and Chambourcin blending in, this dry red blends juicy red-fruit character with savoury complexity and subtle oak influence, balancing vibrant fruit with earthy, savoury undertones. Its supple texture and gentle tannins make it approachable, while extended barrel ageing adds structure and complexity. It's a versatile red that bridges easy-drinking fruitiness and a more contemplative, food-friendly style. The nose reveals fresh red plum, crushed raspberry and dark berries, layered with brambly notes, wild herbs and warming spice. On the palate, juicy fruit flavours are complemented by silky tannins and subtle oak nuances. Dry and structured, the wine finishes with lingering dark-fruit character and savoury depth.
The Winnipeg-based producer focuses on an organic and biodynamic approach to sourcing grapes. This blend spends 16 months aging in neutral oak barrels, allowing the components to integrate and develop texture and complexity.
