Mas Coutelou ‘7 Rue de la Pompe’ Syrah - Languedoc, France
Producer's Notes:
Fresh, fruity, and easygoing with bright red and dark fruit notes. Light and thirst-quenching with a soft, approachable texture, making it an ideal wine for relaxed, sunny moments.
What We Say:
An expressive, juicy, approachable red with the lively personality often associated with the best naturally made wines of southern France. One of this wine's best features is its balance between Syrah's dark, spicy character and an unusually refreshing lift. Rather than being dense or overly powerful, it is often a wonderfully versatile red. It's a wine you can enjoy casually while still offering plenty of personality.
Mas Coutelou follows a strongly natural, minimal-intervention approach in both the vineyard and cellar. In the cellar, Coutelou adapts its methods according to the grapes and the particular vintage rather than following one rigid formula. Spontaneous fermentation without added commercial yeasts, no added enzymes, and no added SO₂ are part of this producer's winemaking strategy. Wines are bottled at the domaine without filtration, allowing the fruit and terroir to remain as expressive and unaltered as possible.
