Momento Grenache Noir - Swartland, South Africa
Producer's Notes:
This Grenache comes from bush vines, and is produced with minimum intervention winemaking, matured 12 months in old french oak foudres. Aromas and flavours of mountain sage, rose petals, strawberry freshness and a brooding mulberry heart. Finely chiseled tannins with a bit of cinnamon spice.
What we say:
Crafted in Paardeberg by Marelise Niemann - one of South Africa’s most admired minimalist winemakers - Momento Grenache Noir is a beautifully pure and expressive take on this Mediterranean grape. Sourced from old, dry-farmed bush vines in the Swartland, the wine opens with lifted aromas of wild strawberry, red cherry and raspberry, layered with hints of rose petal, white pepper and the region’s signature earthy, herbal notes.
The palate is silky and finely textured, showing juicy red fruit, bright acidity and gentle tannins that glide into a long, savoury, subtly spicy finish. Light on its feet yet quietly complex, this is Grenache made with real sensitivity - elegant, transparent and entirely unforced.
