Varietal: 50% Nebbiolo, 40% Croatina and 10% Vespolina,
A cracking introduction to this special region, the Rossonoah from the Noah winery in Alto Piemonte is one of our favourite new discoveries. The nose is so enticing, with a strong mineral undertone that Is overlaid with alluring red berries and a darker, spicier edge. The palate opens with a sweet cherry core wrapped in wild strawberries, mint leaves and liquorice. The body is bright and rounder than you might expect from a young Nebbiolo dominated blend, but we can thank Vespolina and Croatina for that, they pull the Nebbiolo back from its tricky heights and give this wine drinkability and balance. This wine captures all of Alto Piemonte’s charm, with the difficult-to-achieve fruit and structure alongside a fabulous drinkability. A wine of these characteristics opens itself up to a host of food pairings, with most red meats making a fine match. A particularly good pair here would be roast lamb or duck breast in its juices.
