Pépière, Chateau-Thebaud Muscadet
Origin: Château-Thébaud, Sevre et Maine, Loire Valley, France
Blend: melon de Bourgogne (melon blanc)
Producer's Notes: The Château-Thébaud is an exceptional wine and this Cru is being recognized. The Château-Thébaud is produced near the river Maine : this river goes into the Loire.
Our grapes are harvested manually then they are carefully transported to the wine cellar. The pneumatic press is filled by gravity, so grapes are not crushed. The fermentation naturally takes place in an underground vat, for about one month. Afterwards, the ageing begins. We practise « batonnage » (stirring of the lies). The batonnage gives a great aromatic complexity and gustatory richness to this wine. The Château Thébaud passes 30 months on the lees before the bottling. This Cru has a great ageing potential.
from Château-Thébaud: The wines of Château-Thébaud show both a creamy character and minerality. On the nose, they display beautiful aromatic complexity dominated by candied citrus fruits, herbs (fennel, anise) and slightly smoky notes (gunflint, liquorice). The palate is full yet balanced by a clearly perceptible tension and a nice touch of bitterness. The terroir’s hallmark finish is saline and extremely long. Thanks to their natural tension, the wines are made to age. They are beautiful after a few years or can be cellared for 10 to 20 years.
Château-Thébaud wines are ideal with gastronomic cuisine, pairing very well with shellfish, cooked fish, spiced or Middle-Eastern dishes and goat’s cheese.
