Peter Lauer ‘No. 14’ Ayler Lambertskirch Riesling Kabinett - Saar, Germany
Producer's Notes:
The Lambertskirch vineyard is an extremely steep-sloped vineyard with southern aspect. Hand harvesting is the only option, and this is vinified in a decidedly old school way. Fruity-sweet with its residual sugar masked by taught acidity, Lauer only makes Prädikat wines when the vintage is perfect for it.
What we say:
From one of the Saar’s most precise and terroir-focused producers, Peter Lauer’s No. 14 hails from the steep, slate-rich Lambertskirch vineyard - a site that has seen a modern revival thanks to the Lauer family. This Kabinett captures the Saar’s signature tension: crystalline fruit, delicately off-dry sweetness, and razor-sharp acidity working together in beautiful harmony.
The nose shows vivid aromas of white peach, lime zest, crushed slate, and fresh herbs. On the palate, it’s feather-light yet intensely expressive - juicy orchard fruit and citrus flavours balanced by electric acidity and a fine thread of mineral sweetness. The finish is long, pure, and mouth-watering, making this an exceptional example of Kabinett crafted for both early enjoyment and graceful ageing.
