Peter Lauer ‘Reserve’ Riesling Sekt 1992 - Saar (Mosel), Germany
From the steep, slate-rich vineyards of the Saar, this rare vintage 1992 Riesling Sekt ‘Reserve’ from Peter Lauer has matured via 30 years (!) of lees aging into a beautifully expressive sparkling wine. Crafted with the traditional method and extended ageing on the lees, the result is incredibly refined, elegant and sophisticated.
The nose reveals complex aromas of smokey bacon, honeycomb, beeswax, preserved lemon, pineapple confit, white flowers and clear mineral slate. On the palate it’s sleek and polished: light-to-medium body, fine mousse, brilliant acidity, layered stone-fruit and citrus flavours, and a long, crystalline finish guided by minerality and nuance. Drinking beautifully now, this Sekt also offers further potential with careful cellaring.
