Raina farms organically with a focus on minimal intervention and respect for terroir, using native yeasts and long macerations to extract the grape’s full character, followed by ageing that softens and integrates its formidable tannins.
Sagrantino is one of Italy’s most tannic and age-worthy grape varieties, known for its deep colour, intense structure and ability to develop complex tertiary flavours over time.
The wine opens with bold aromas of blackberry, plum and black cherry, layered with notes of violet, spice, leather and a touch of cocoa. On the palate it is full-bodied and firmly structured, with robust tannins, concentrated dark fruit and vibrant acidity giving both power and balance. There’s a savoury, earthy depth throughout, leading to a long, persistent finish that will evolve beautifully with time.
