Recaredo ‘Terrers’ Brut Nature Corpinnat / Penedès (Catalonia), Spain
Precise, savoury and beautifully composed, ‘Terrers’ is Recaredo’s flagship introduction to serious long-aged Corpinnat. It opens with ripe apple, pear and citrus peel, layered with almond, dried flowers, sourdough and a subtle smoky, chalky mineral edge. The palate is bone dry and finely textured, with a delicate, persistent mousse and a lovely balance between creamy lees complexity and bright Mediterranean freshness. There’s plenty of depth, but the overall impression is one of elegance and restraint rather than weight, finishing long, saline and quietly nutty.
Made from a mosaic of Recaredo’s family-owned biodynamic vineyards in the heart of the Corpinnat territory, ‘Terrers’ is based on traditional Penedès varieties - principally Xarel·lo, Macabeu and Parellada, with some vintages including a tiny proportion of Monastrell vinified as a white wine. The wine is aged for an extended period on lees, typically around 35–45 months, under natural cork, then riddled and disgorged by hand without freezing the bottle neck. As with all Recaredo sparkling wines, it is Brut Nature, with no dosage added, allowing the vineyard character and long ageing to speak clearly.
